Oil-Free Is The Proper Pump Choice for Clean Rooms, Bio-Pharma, Neutraceutical Processes
With an oil-free scroll pump, there is no chance of having a product batch contaminated by “backstreaming” of the dirty hydrocarbon oils associated with oil-filled rotary vane vacuum pumps. Because it’s oil-free, the Edwards nXDSiC does not smoke out of the exhaust or require filters and traps on the vacuum pump inlet and outlet.
Hermetically Sealed = Clean & Safe
Edwards nXDSiC pumps are hermetic, with the motor and all bearings completely isolated from the vacuum path. This design extends the bearing life and provides clean, dry vacuum to the application. The hermetic design of this pump allow for longer life by protecting the interior workings of the pump from aggressive solvents, corrosives, etc.
Sophisticated Pump Control
The Edwards nXDSiC has an advanced controller that provides several modes of control: In MANUAL mode you can push button START, STOP and STANDBY. With PARALLEL REMOTE mode, control from your own control system via the 15 way d-sub connector giving the same START, STOP and STANDBY with the option of analogue speed control. With SERIAL COMM REMOTE you can control via the pumps RS232 or RS485 with a choice of Edwards’ proprietary ‘DX’ protocol or industry standard modbus protocol.
Pull Deeper Vacuum / Tolerate Vapor loads with the Gas Ballast
The nXDSiC pumps have a gas ballast that assists the pump in handling condensable gases such as water vapor, or other gaseous products that become liquids or solvents when reaching atmospheric pressure.

Here’s why you should consider a cold trap in between your vacuum oven & vacuum pump
Traps help prolong the life of your pump. Vacuum pumps ingest all the outgassing material (solvents, water, etc.) Over time and without routine maintenance, the vacuum pump will lose efficiency.
Traps can help isolate outgassed material you want to reclaim. But keep in mind, a trap will trap a mix of everything, the stuff you want to keep and the stuff you want to dispose of.

Edwards nXDSiC Maintenance – Tip Seal Replacement
Replace tip seals every 6-18 months (depending on usage). When the time comes, you can either order the Edwards tip seal replacement kit, or ask about Cascade’s vacuum pump maintenance service.
